The Rio Indio Lodge embraces a perfect balance between comfort and adventure. Over 5 million dollars was spent in bringing this Ecological and Sport Fishing Resort to life. Just minutes away from the Costa Rican and Southern Nicaraguan border, this lost paradise is located in the Rio Maiz National Park, a vast area filled with history, virgin jungles, wildlife and some of the best fishing in Central America.

The elevated walkways branching throughout this beautiful lodge connect its luxurious cottages to the main lodge, gourmet restaurant, swimming pool and bar, bringing you close to nature with all the amenities of a four star resort. Come explore exotic Foot Paths, Birding Tours, Fly Fishing and Kayaking. Our guided tours will allow you to discover all that's hidden in this great universe of wildlife creating everlasting memories.

Rio Indio Lodge Amenities and Rooms:

Each of our luxurious cabins rests on a series of “stilts”, all connected over the jungle floor allowing for a canopy view of the river and main lagoon. Beautifully constructed out of the wood from nearby tree farms, these rooms are very open with large screened-in porches, air-conditioning, over-head fans, large tiled bathrooms, hot water and two queen or king beds. The lodge also has a sparkling pool, entertainment room, bar area and Internet Wi-Fi located in the main lodge and restaurant area.

Activities:

Many of our customers come to the lodge specifically for the world-class Tarpon and Snook fishing, which is located about ½ mile from the lodges boat dock, but there are also several other activities to do while visiting the Rio Indio Lodge. Our guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some incredible back-river fishing for Tiger and Rainbow Bass, Bluegill and Machaca. We also offer river kayaking, birding tours and jungle hikes. Our guided tours will allow you to discover all that’s hidden in this great universe of wildlife creating memories to last a lifetime.

Accommodations:

The Lodge consists of 20 separate air-conditioned rooms, each having either 2 queen or 2 king beds. Our packages are based on double occupancy, but if there is space available, we typically give each client his or her own room.

Dining:

Every morning, breakfast will be served before heading out on your scheduled tour. Lunch will be served between noon and 1:00pm. You will have the option to pack a lunch or return to the lodge for a sit-down meal. Dinner will be served between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Our staff includes some of the finest chefs in Nicaragua. You will be amazed by their professionalism and attention to detail.

Type of food:

The meals at the lodge could be classified as International Cuisine, ranging from an All American breakfast to a full gourmet seafood buffet dinner. We receive most of our products daily from local sources. These sources provide us with the freshest ingredients, shrimp, lobster, fish and vegetables. Simply put, our food is amazing!

Getting to the Lodge:

Even though our Lodge is located in Nicaragua, most…if not all of our customers, prefer to fly into Juan Santa Maria Airport located just outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our professional staff and taken to your nearby hotel. The following morning, your flight to Nicaragua will depart at approximately 7:00am. The duration of this flight is a short 30 minutes. Upon arriving to the Greytown Airport in San Juan del Norte, Nicaragua, you will take a short 5-minute water taxi to the Rio Indio Lodge where you will be greeted again by our professional staff.
