Answer: We aim for early morning arrivals at the crater (typically by 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM). The volcano is located in a cloud forest, and the crater is most likely to be clear of mist and clouds in the morning. As your concierge, Jaco360 handles the mandatory timed entry reservations to ensure your group gets the best possible viewing window.
Answer: The temperature at Poás Volcano is significantly cooler than in Jaco, often dropping into the 50s or 60s (F). We recommend wearing long pants and bringing a light jacket or sweater. If you choose the Waterfall combo, comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are a must for the jungle trails.
Answer: Yes. Due to volcanic activity monitoring and park capacity limits, the National Park service requires pre-purchased, timed-entry tickets. By booking with Jaco360, we manage the reservation system for you, ensuring your spot is secured and you avoid the long lines at the park entrance.
Answer: Absolutely. The walk to the volcano crater is paved and relatively flat, making it accessible for children and seniors. The Waterfall Gardens and Coffee Tours are also highly educational and interactive, providing a perfect balance of adventure and culture for all age groups.
Answer: The drive to the Alajuela highlands takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours each way. While it is a longer day trip, we use premium private transportation to ensure the ride is comfortable, providing a great opportunity to see the changing landscapes of Costa Rica’s Central Valley.
