Your Vision. Our Logistics. No Compromises.
In Costa Rica, the best shots don’t happen by accident. They happen through precise timing, local intelligence, and the flexibility to move when the wildlife moves. At Jaco360, we provide a professional framework for photographers who need more than a seat on a bus.
While we are the undisputed experts of the Central Pacific corridor—from the macaws of Carara to the kingfishers of the Tárcoles—our reach extends across all of Costa Rica’s premier birding zones. Whether you want to master the light in our local Agujas mountains or head into the highlands for the Resplendent Quetzal, we handle the logistics so you can focus on the shutter.
We don’t do “cookie-cutter.” Every tour is built around your target species list and preferred pace. Want to spend four hours at a single lek waiting for a Manakin to dance? We’re with you. Need to pivot to a different zone because of a weather front? We handle the rerouting.
Our backyard is the most biologically diverse transition zone in the country. We offer rapid access to:
Carara National Park: The “Biological Bridge” for rare macaws and trogons.
Tárcoles Estuary: Low-angle boat photography for crocodiles and aquatic birds.
The Agujas Mountains: Primary forest verticality and endemic species.
Looking for the Highland species of the Cloud Forest or the Caribbean endemics? We arrange and lead photography expeditions to every major birding zone in Costa Rica. We manage the transport, the specialized local scouts, and the timing to ensure your cross-country portfolio is seamless.
As a partner of the Vortex Outdoor Center, we understand high-end optics. Our vehicles are climate-controlled and vibration-dampened to protect your glass. For mobile photographers, we provide full support for Phone Skope adapters, turning our spotting scopes into high-powered 4K telephoto rigs.
The Vibe: Low humidity and consistent blue skies. This is the peak time for action shots and vibrant color saturation.
Target Species: * Birds: Nesting Scarlet Macaws and Turquoise-browed Motmots.
Mammals: Active White-faced Capuchins and Spider Monkeys moving through thinner canopies.
Reptiles: Large American Crocodiles basking on the Tárcoles banks and Green Iguanas in full mating colors.
Pro Tip: This is the best window for flight photography. We focus on high shutter speeds and catching the “Golden Hour” before 7:00 AM.
The Vibe: Intense greens and soft, diffused light. The overcast skies act as a natural softbox, eliminating the harsh shadows of the midday sun—ideal for forest floor photography.
Target Species: * Mammals: Two-toed and Three-toed Sloths (easier to spot against fresh leaf growth) and Coatis.
Amphibians: Peak season for the Red-eyed Tree Frog and Black and Green Poison Dart Frogs.
Birds: Resident nesting species and hummingbirds are highly active.
Pro Tip: This is “Macro Season.” We prioritize the forest floor and understory, using the soft light to capture the intricate textures of frogs and insects.
The Vibe: Atmospheric and dramatic. While there is more rain, the activity levels are at a yearly high as migratory corridors open up.
Target Species:
Birds: Massive “kettles” of migratory raptors and rare shorebirds.
Mammals: Anteaters and Squirrel Monkeys are frequently sighted foraging in the transition forests.
Marine Life: Humpback whale sightings are common off the coast near Jaco during their southern migration.
Pro Tip: We stay mobile. Our local network allows us to dodge rain cells and find the “pockets” of activity where light and wildlife converge.
