Every Canyoning Adventure Tour begins with a thorough safety briefing and a “dry” practice rappel on a small incline before you ever head to the waterfalls. Your certified guides are with you at every step, providing a “back-up” safety line to ensure you are fully protected throughout the descent.
Answer: A waterfall hike usually involves viewing the falls from a distance or swimming at the base. A Canyoning Adventure Tour is a multi-sport experience where you are inside the canyon. It involves rappelling down the face of the waterfalls, ziplining across the canyon, and optional cliff jumping into natural pools. It is a more immersive and physical way to experience the Costa Rican jungle.
Answer: Safety is our priority. Most Canyoning Adventure Tours we book have a minimum age of 7 years old and a maximum weight limit of approximately 250 lbs (113 kg) to ensure a proper harness fit (waist circumference up to 42 to 47 inches). If you have specific concerns about physical fitness or health conditions, contact the Jaco360 team—we can help determine if this is the right level of adventure for your group.
Answer: You will get 100% wet on this tour! We recommend wearing a swimsuit with athletic shorts over the top and closed-toe shoes with good grip (sneakers or water shoes). Do not wear flip-flops. Regarding cameras, we recommend leaving expensive gear behind unless it is a waterproof GoPro with a secure mount. Most of our vetted operators have professional photographers on the trail who capture high-quality photos available for purchase after the tour.
