Answer: The hike from the trailhead to the falls is approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) each way through lush rainforest. While the trail is well-maintained, it does feature some incline. For those who prefer to skip the trek, Jaco360 can arrange the popular 4×4 truck or tractor-wagon option, which takes you directly to the falls so you can save your energy for swimming and exploring.
Answer: Yes! Nauyaca is famous for its massive 1,000-square-meter natural pool at the foot of the lower falls, which is roughly 6 meters deep—perfect for swimming. There are also designated spots for cliff jumping and rock climbing. Our guides are experts on the river conditions and will point out the safest areas for diving based on the daily water levels.
Answer: The Nauyaca site features a stunning two-tiered cascade. The Upper Fall stands at 45 meters (147 feet) and offers a dramatic, misty backdrop that is ideal for photography. The Lower Fall is a 20-meter (65-foot) stepped cascade that spills into the main swimming hole. We recommend visiting both to get the full experience of this natural canyon.
Answer: We recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes for the trail and bringing a pair of water shoes for navigating the slippery rocks in the pools. Don’t forget your swimsuit, a towel, eco-friendly sunscreen, and insect repellent. Since the drive from Jaco is about 2 to 2.5 hours, your Jaco360 private transport is equipped with air conditioning and space for your dry clothes and personal gear.
Answer: Yes. When you book your Nauyaca adventure through Jaco360, we provide door-to-door private transportation from your Jaco or Los Sueños villa. The tour also includes a traditional Costa Rican “Casado” lunch, fresh tropical fruits, and plenty of hydration to keep you energized for the day’s adventure.
